VEGETABLE PIES AND TARTS
Make a savory pie or tart in which vegetables star. Begin
with a pastry o r biscuit crust made with whole wheat or all-purpose flour, o r cornmeal. Or make
a crumb crust using bread, pretzels, or crackers. Top with layers of thinly sliced vegetables and
cheese o r fill with a creamy veggie-packed custard mixture. Both a large tart to serve fo r dinner
o r mini appetizer-size ones are welcome fo r this category.
O N E -P O T M EALS
Send us a stove-top o r slow-cooker simmered medley o f meat and
vegetables. If you like, add a grain, such as rice o r pasta. Need some ideas? Soups and stews
with o r w ithout meat, risottos, spicy beans and rice, noodle bowls, ground beef skillet
mixtures, and vegetable-meat stir-fries served with rice are a few suggestions .

are allowed, but each recipe must be submitted as a separate entry and each entry must meet the
following requirements:
• A recipe may be submitted in each of the two monthly Categories. Write or type on each entry the
Category you wish to enter. Each recipe may only be submitted for judging in one Category. Multiple
entries may be submitted in the same envelope.
• Recipe entries must be original, and cannot have been previously published, won another
competition or contest, or been used fo r advertising or promotional purposes.
